چکیده

In addition to their purely scientific significance, recent advances in our understanding of emotion and its role in political behavior open up real opportunities for gaining leverage on crucial issues relating to political theory. With this move, such research cuts itself off from enormously promising mutual exchange: such results can deepen and refine the arguments and intuitions we inherit from the history of philosophy; and the Western tradition offers myriad ways in which empirical theories of emotion could be expanded and reconceptualized.
